Finding Breakthrough Solutions for Alzheimer's and Dementia
Evidence suggests the process of degenerative brain issues occur over a much longer period than was initially expected. Ward-Helix Biologics is focused on finding the best long term preventative approach to arrest cognitive decline before it can generate symptoms. Enzymes drive chemical reactions within our homeostatic bodies, and they can be directed to influence the factors which drive cognitive decline. Secondarily we are exploring nutribiotics which demonstrate effective reversal or modifications of dementia symptoms and clinical signs.

Understanding Energetic Changes in the Aging Brain
Although dementia can occur at any age, it is significantly absent in youthful adults with otherwise healthy parameters. The deleterious effects of reduced metabolism is a major factor in most degenerative diseases. It is apparent that repairing or restoring cellular energy metabolism is a suitable target for treatment and prevention.
Ward-Helix is investigating analogous enzymes and other compounds which will provide this critical boost and allow cellular processes to repair and maintain themselves.

The state of our human based research
We are currently identifying and characterizing all possible candidates for clinical testing. A modeling system will narrow the field and pending approval, double blind placebo trials will begin. Our expected timeline is approximately five years for product release. We are hopeful we will be able to accelerate this timeline.

Finding New Antibiotics, Antimycotics, and Antivirals
Penicillin and subsequent antibiotics revolutionized our world by eliminating most unwanted and unnecessary deaths due to infectious agents. Modern medicine is currently running out of effective treatments due to widespread antibiotic resistance. At Ward-Helix Biologics, we are determined to increase the available treatments doctors and practitioners can turn to when difficult infections present.

Quest for Novel Microbes
Penicillin was an accident and occurred when two different types of microbes interacted. Many of our most effective antibiotics have come from other microbes which deploy them as a defense or to gain an advantage in nature.
Our goal is find the next viable candidates which will contribute the sequences we need to reproduce highly effective weapons against infectious disease.

Under Which Stone?
Our primary research region is currently the Boston Mountains in Northwest Arkansas. Our surveys have demonstrated significant diversity of microbes within both the aquatic and terrestrial regions. The high degree of diversity in mountain streams and creeks was a driving factor in making this a search region.
